Gilt Ed

Edward went out for a short session targeting Giltheads and was rewarded with this nice 2.5lb fish.

William hits the spotted ray

William, Rona, Doug and Edward went out in the boat from Millcove. Having managed to find some mackerel we dropped anchor and fished the incoming tide. Doug caught a dab, Rona caught a dogfish, Edward caught two dogfish and William caught a personal best spotted ray weighing 3.5lbs.

Specimen Mullet

 

Edward had a few casts with freelined floating bread down in Ross and caught this fat 5.5lb mullet. Didn't bother with ground bait and the swans came nowhere near.

Rosscarbery Mullet

 

 

Edward had a decent mullet session down in Ross, catching three mullet on bread. These are the two bigger ones. Not sure whether ground baiting had any effect, as it was mostly swallowed by swans.

Another Bass for William

William and Rona went sandeeling in the morning and then fished the incoming tide. William caught two small bass and one decent fish weighing 4.5lbs. Rona caught a bass weighing 2.5 lbs.

Bass After Dark

William and Rona fished at dusk using sandeels as bait. William caght a small bass on his first cast then as is got dark he caught a bass of 5lbs.

Rona Likes Pikes

Using small mackerel as bait Rona and William spent the morning pike fishing. Rona caught an 8lb pike and William caught nothing.

One Cast One Bass

It was perfect conditions for bass fishing. After finishing work Wiliam scrambled to get sandeels and then rushed to get fishing before it got dark. He caught a 4.5lb bass on his first cast.

William and Wooster go Fishing

Loads of mullet were feeding on mackerel remains that had been dumped at the end of the slip. William and Wooster quickly set up a float rig with some mackerel as bait. William caught three mullet all weighing over 4lbs. Wooster was very pleased.

Sandeel Struggle

After struggling to get sandeels for three hours Rona and William fished the incoming tide. William caught a 2.5lb bass on his first cast. Rona caught nothing, ha!.

Bullet Catcher

While Rona slaved away at the office, William secretly sauntered off for the afternoon to do a bit of bass fishing. Wooster(the cat) was delighted when William came home carrying a 5lb bass caught on a bass bullet. His biggest lure caught bass!.

Deja vu

Rona caught a 2.5lb bass on the same lure at the same spot as on the previous two evenings. William had gone out earlier on in the day and managed to catch a 2lb bass.

Rona on a roll!

Rona has a new favorite lure. The same ally magnet that had taken a fish on the previous evening proved to be effective once again, catching Rona a lovely 4lb bass. William couldn't blame the hooks this time as he had replaced them earlier, he did however lose a bass and catch a mackerel and a couple of pollack whoopee!

Rona's Ally Magnetism

It almost felt like Summer this evening. The sea was flat and the terns were diving. Whilst lure fishing from the rocks Rona caught a 3.5lb bass on a floating ally magnet, swine!. William had a take but he missed it. On later inspection of the lures it was discovered that the hooks on Rona's lure had been replaced with nice sharp shiny new ones and William's lure was sporting a pair of blunt rusty old ones.

And they all said he was mad...

Edward night-fished the beach behind the diving platform in Salthill. He caught two small congers, four dogfish and probably a cold.
